The Bakugan Battle Brawlers Game

Similar to how trading card games work, Bakugan is a strategy game involving both cards (made of metal) and marbles. The marbles morph into dragon-like monsters. The transformation occurs as the marble lands on the metal cards, which is the large part of the appeal of these toys. They are fun!

After each player has rolled their Bakugan (the marble), then battle commences. Battle consists of adding up the values on the Bakugan and the cards and the winner takes both of the Bakugans and the cards. The game continues until there aren’t any cards left.

The Characters

Dan is the leader of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers. He’s a twelve year old boy who is more street smart than book smart and is always looking for adventure.

Pyrus Drago, is Dan’s guardian Bakugan. He is a gigantic dragon-like Bakugan from “Pyrus”: a space attributed to fire. He is one of the most powerful species living in Vestroia, able to infinitely evolve on his own. In battle, his power is to radiate intense heat from his body, dissolving everything around him. He is the leader of the Bakugan; a true knight with strong convictions and a deep friendship with Dan.

Runo isn’t your typical 12 year old girl. She loves playing Bakugan with the boys and has a crush on Dan. Runo can be a sore loser and her battling can be inconsistent. In battle she uses light attributes.

Haos Tigrerra is Runo’s Bakugan. She is from the “Tigrerra Species” living in “Haos”: a space attributed to light. Inside her body is a gigantic blade, capable of cutting any substance in the human world.

Shun co-created the rules and regulations of Bakugan (along with Dan) and is a master of the game. Shun plays the game like a Ninja warrior and is very, very calculating. He uses the wind attributes for battle.

Ventus Skyress is a bird-beast life form and is Shuns’ Bakugan. She is from the “Skyress Species”, living in the space attributed to wind: “Ventus”. Skyress has a gigantic wing span and numerous long tails.

Julie can compete with the best of them at Bakugan. Julie would best be described as a little princess. She is Dan’s number 1 fan. Julie lives in the isolated Bakugan Valley. She is the mistress of direct attacks. Julie uses Earth attributes in battle. Runo is very jealous of her.

Subterra Gorem is Julies’ guardian Bakugan. He is from the “Gorem Species” living in “Subterra”: a space attributed to earth. His entire body is composed of exceptionally hard cell bodies, which makes him a Bakugan with a very heavy body.

Masquerade is a very mysterious character who has one goal; send all Bakugan to the Doom Dimension. A great Bakugan player and Dan’s main rival, he wears a mask and no-one knows his true identity. In battle Masquerade is so dangerous because he carries the doom card, allowing him to send the losing Bakugan to the Doom Dimension.

Darkus Hydranoid is Masquerade’s Bakugan. He is from the “Hydranoid Species” living in the space attributed to darkness: “Darkus”. His entire body is composed of a highly intelligent, independent cell structure.

Michael, an elderly researcher in his fifties was the first to discover a portal between an alternate universe known as Vestroia and our world. He recruited Masquerade in an attempt to help him destroy all the Bakugan standing in his way.

Bakugan Cards

A Normal Card is the most basic of all the Gateway cards and is an absolute necessity for Battle. It contains six G-Power Boosts. Each one has a specific boost depending on the Planet your Bakugan Warrior is from. An HSP score is also located at the bottom of these cards. It will be used to determine the overall winner at the end of the Battle.

Character Cards

A Character Card is designed for one specific Bakugan Warrior. There are as many Character Cards as there are Bakugans. Like a Normal card, the Character Card consists of six G-Power Boosts and an HSP score. But they are different because a Character Card will bear that Bakugan’s image and double its G-Power when it stands on it. Standing a Bakugan on its character card dramatically increases the chances of winning that Battle.

Command Card

A Command Card will add an unexpected element of surprise to a Battle. There are the standard G-Power Boosts and HSP scores, however, in the case of the Command Card, there is a direct order that both Brawlers must follow. The command will systematically alter the course of a Battle and could very well decide the fate of the final winner.

Ability Card

An Ability Card is an extremely valuable card to be holding in a deck. In fact, it is so powerful that only a single Ability Card is allowed to be brought to Battle. Unlike the other three Gateway cards, an Ability Card does not have any G-Power Boosts. Instead it has an HSP score and a particular instruction that all Brawlers must obey. An Ability Card is quite forceful and when used properly can have a devastating effect on your opponents.
